Recycle clothing, small furniture, home medical equipment and other hard-to-dispose-of large items at Johns Creek’s “Bulky Items Recycling Day” on Saturday, September 21st, 2019 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Target / Home Depot parking lot located at 5950 State Bridge Road, Johns Creek, GA 30097. 

The event – for Johns Creek residents only (please see the tool to the right if you are uncertain if your address falls within the Johns Creek city limits) – is hosted by the City of Johns Creek and Keep Johns Creek Beautiful and runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Target / Home Depot parking lot at 5950 State Bridge Road, Johns Creek, GA 30097. Expect delays and please arrive well before 1 p.m. Reusable items will be donated to charity.​

The following items contain hazardous materials and require a fee in order to properly recycle. 


  • TVs and Monitors - $10 each
  • Items with Freon (such as refrigerators, freezers, dehumidifiers, A/C units) - $20 per item


The following items will be accepted for recycling or reuse:

  • Appliances: refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, dishwashers, residential A/C units, ovens/stoves/stovetops, dehumidifiers, wine coolers, microwaves. Items with Freon will have a $20 fee.
  • Electronics: cell phones, computers & accessories, televisions, batteries of all types EXCEPT alkaline (tape the ends and discard in trash) For more information on how to properly dispose of Alkaline batteries, please see this article. TVs and Monitors will have a $10 fee.
  • Metal items:  bicycles, grills, lawn furniture, scrap metal, file cabinets, lawn mowers
  • Home medical equipment:  wheelchairs, walkers, canes, shower seats, etc.
  • Fluorescent tubes and CFL’s (compact fluorescent lights)
  • F.O.G.  (cooking fats/oils/grease only--NOT automotive)
  • Glass Bottles & Jars (Clean food grade only)


The following items – in good reusable condition only, will be collected by American Kidney Services:

  • Men’s, women’s, and children’s clothing
  • Shoes and accessories
  • Working electronics like CD players and DVD players
  • Cookware and serving utensils, Silverware and glassware
  • Small appliances
  • Decorative items
  • Drapes and linens
  • Small furniture
  • Books, toys


Please do NOT bring the following items:

  • No furniture that is torn, stained, broken or structurally unsound, mattresses, box springs
  • No office furniture, pianos, game tables, large entertainment centers*
  • No carpet/rugs, exercise equipment, waterbeds*
  • No playpens, strollers, car seats
  • No paint or household hazardous waste
  • No fluids including motor oil and anti-freeze (cooking oil is OK)
  • No construction and demolition materials*
  • No bathroom fixtures (unless brand new)
  • No yard debris, household trash
  • No tires


Please speak to your private waste hauler about items that are not suitable for recycling or reuse.  


*If they are in good condition, try donating these items on Craigslist, Freecycle, or to Habitat for Humanity.
